SEYMOUR CENTRE BUILDING ACCESS

Access Needs

For patrons requiring wheelchair access, please make sure you inform the Box Office when purchasing your tickets so appropriate seating is arranged. For parking and drop offs, go to Maze Crescent on the Darlington Campus side of Sydney University. When you arrive please make your way to the main entrance; across the staff carpark and through the covered walkway to the front of the building. Once inside, please speak to our friendly Box Office staff about your needs and they will arrange for the Front of House Manager to assist you.

Building Access Map

For access parking and drop offs, go to Maze Crescent on the Darlington Campus side of Sydney University.

Maze Crescent runs off Butlin Avenue. It is best to approach Butlin Avenue from King Street, if coming from the South, and City Road if travelling from the North. Once you have turned into Butlin Avenue take your first left onto Maze Crescent. Continue down Maze Crescent for approximately 200 metres until you come to the roundabout. From there you will be able to locate signed disabled parking outside the building on Maze Crescent.

PARKING

Parking

We recommend that patrons using wheelchairs do not use the Shepherd Street car park, as there’s no fast and direct access to the theatre from this parking zone. The best option for accessible parking are the two clearly signed accessible car parks on Maze Crescent. If the two spots are taken by other patrons there is comparable parking available approximately 30 metres along Maze Crescent. Parking on university grounds is free to all patrons displaying a current Mobility Parking Scheme card (previously know as Disabled Parking Permit). Please do not park in the small staff car park at the side of the theatre, this is reserved for staff only and the heavy vehicles that service the loading dock. Area Map

TOILETS

Toilets

The Seymour Centre’s main toilets are located on the ground floor of the building near the Box Office. There is an accessible toilet within the main male and female toilets; there is currently no unisex option. These wheelchair accessible toilets can be reached via the main entrance of the building, or via staff escort from other levels. A unisex toilet for patrons with limited mobility is available on Level 3 Admin near the York and Everest Theatres, and also on the lower level near the Downstairs Theatre and Sound Lounge. Both require staff escort. Please ask a member of staff for assistance.

THEATRE ACCESS

  • York Theatre: The York Theatre has detailed specifications for access. There are two avenues for entry for York Theatre patrons who have access needs. More Info
  • Everest Theatre: The Everest Theatre is one of the Seymour Centre’s most accessible theatres. Patrons with access needs attending the Everest Theatre will be taken through a side door by Front of House staff and can be seated in the stalls. This door can then be used at interval and at the end of the show.
  • Downstairs Theatre & Soundlounge: For patrons who require wheelchair access to the Downstairs Theatre and the Soundlounge, it is best to park near Stage Door, which is off Blackwattle Creek Rd, off Shepherd St (off Cleveland St).
