Risk Assessment

The Department of Education have informed us that the school is responsible for completing the Risk Assessment. To aid you with this procedure please follow the steps below.

If you go to the Department’s web page a proforma and example are available as guidelines.

Schools are to obtain information from venues as follows to enable them to complete the assessment as follows.

In Bold are the Seymour Centre's answers to the Assessment criteria.

  • Public liability cover: Yes the University has Public Liability cover up to $10,000,000.00
  • Accreditation of the venue and its staff for the task/activity N/A
  • Access and special requirements e.g. for students with special needs Yes please advice Box Office [9351 7940] prior to attendance if you have students with special access needs
  • Emergency procedures and relevant training of venue staff Please see Emergency Procedure page
  • Known hazards and controls related to proposed activities N/A
  • Equipment available; ask venue to confirm that equipment and machinery are maintained, repaired and in good working order with safety features operational All equipment and machinery maintained as per relevant guidelines
  • Use of licensed personnel for construction, maintenance and repairs Specialised personnel used where appropriate
  • Availability of appropriate facilities e.g. showers, refreshments, toilets. The Seymour Centre is a public building with suitable facilities
