Welcome to the Seymour's 2009 Subscription Season
In 2008, the Seymour Centre launched it's first ever subscription season and we have been delighted with the support we received from audiences and patrons alike.
Our 2009 season continues the Seymour tradition of diversity, affordability and quality with a wide range of must-see productions across our unique venues.
The York Theatre plays host to enduring comedy/drama Steel Magnolias, twenty years after hosting the Australian premiere production of this much loved classic.
The Everest Theatre will house the premiere season of the new Australian musical Breast Wishes, as well as the sensitive and moving new Australian play, Inside Out
Our more intimate Downstairs Theatre also plays a big role in 2009, with 3 Australian premieres - the Off-Broadway smash hit Gutenberg the Musical, the gripping thriller Address Unknown, and a new piece, Shafana and Aunt Sarrinah by Alana Valentine which will partner Alex Buzo’s classic Norm and Ahmed.
In addition to this noteworthy emphasis on new Australian work and Australian premieres, we will host other well-loved works such as The Beauty Queen of Leenane.
We’re also thrilled to continue our partnership with Kookaburra, with I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change as part of the season, and to welcome Kahlil Ashanti to the Seymour in the international award-winning comedy Basic Training.
It’s great to have new and returning subscribers join us, particularly at a time of such major growth, as we build on the Seymour’s theatrical heritage with initiatives like BITE, Arts Bunker, the refurbishment of the Everest and, of course, our subscription seasons. We’re also very pleased that throughout 2009 we’ll be able to offer our subscribers exclusive offers to additional selected productions. These offers will enable you to receive subscriber discounts and priority seating for even more high quality productions.
Please take the time to look at what we have to offer this year, and remember, you can subscribe to as few as three shows to receive all the value and benefits of subscription.
To our returning subscribers, thank you for your ongoing support. To our new subscribers… welcome to the family. We hope you find the 2009 Season as exciting as we do and invite you to SEE IT AT THE SEYMOUR!
